www.hamilton-city.org
The City of Hamilton Parks and Recreation boasts 1,360 acres of parkland distributed over
56 sites that include baseball/softball diamonds, soccer fields, football fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, golf courses,
and more. Golf Digest magazine ranked Hamilton's municipal courses 3rd in Ohio and 76th in the nation for golf quality
and value. Large parks such as Darrell Joyce Park provide activities including the Hamilton Ohio Scale Auto Raceway
(a radio-controlled model race car track), the HAWKS radio-controlled model airplane flying field, the BMX bicycle motor
cross track, 20 soccer fields, a driving range and miniature golf course, and basketball. Joyce Park has the only
city-maintained Whippet Track in the Tri-State area where races are held April-November.
Completed
in late 2002 is a new Skate Board Park, which was a joint venture between Hamilton, Fairfield, and the Hamilton
Community Foundation. All of these complexes attract state, regional and national events regularly. Nearly 25%
of Hamilton's parklands are in natural wooded settings, ranging from dense forests to open picnicking lands.
You will find miles of peaceful hiking and walking paths and trails in Crawford Woods, Joyce Park, Miami Woods, Millikin Woods and Sanders Park. The new Riverside Natural Area, adjacent to the Hamilton Bike Path along the
Great Miami River offers more than 150 acres of natural beauty. It includes a shaded lagoon, a wooded trail, large
areas of prairie grasses and wildflowers. Here you will discover a surprising array of wildlife and waterfowl. Few cities
in the country have accessibility to such expansive natural areas - over 300 acres, all located within a short distance
of downtown Hamilton!

Great Miami River
With a central depth of 12 feet, the Great Miami River
offers sporting opportunities such as boating, skiing, jet skis, and wave runners. The site in Hamilton includes a jump
on the river and slalom course. Two boating docks are available: the Bicentennial Boat Ramp located on the west side
of the Great Miami River on Hamilton-Cleves Road (behind the Eagle’s Lodge) and one at Combs Park on North B Street.
Each summer, visit Great
Miami River Days in September. Several ski competitions including the National Show Ski Championship with Adagio, freestyle jump, show skiing, and
barefoot events have taken place on the river. Other events have included the Australian Barefoot Team who has
visited Hamilton for many years prior to competing in the world championship where visitors can witness the practice
sessions of tricks, slalom, and jump (one of the most dangerous sports in the world).
