The Hamilton Rotary Club is selling tickets to "Music Man". Produced by Joellyn Goos and Bill Balfour and directed is Herb Cox, this annual musical production allows the Hamilton Rotary Club to donate funds for many worthy causes.

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 13-15 and 2 p.m. March 15-16. Show location is Parrish Auditorium, 1601 University Boulevard on the Miami University Hamilton campus. Cost is $15 per ticket, which may be purchased by calling (513) 844-8080 or by downloading and mailing the Rotary Presents ticket form.

Rotary Theatre History

The motivation for Rotary Revels came from a style show that Rotarians Ryan Hall and Bob Clark created in the early summer of 1953, with fellow Rotarians as models. The show was to provide the entertainment for the Ohio Altrusa Club state convention that year in Hamilton. It was so successful that requests for other performances followed. Ralph Colegrove, then president of Rotary, was searching for a program that might involve all club members, that would be entertaining for the public, and that could raise funds for charitable purposes. He had seen the style show, and so, asked Hall and Clark if they could develop a program, or show to meet the club’s needs.  Thus was Rotary Revels born!!

Recently, the name was changed to Rotary Presents. This annual production continues to offer high-quality theatre production at a very economical price.

The Hamilton Rotary Club  

The Hamilton Rotary Club has been involved in community service since its inception in 1919. Over the years it has contributed funds in support of many worthy causes. Its main fund raising effort since 1954 has been Rotary Revels which produces a Broadway musical each year. The funds raised from the Rotary Revels productions have allowed the Hamilton Rotary Club to donate money that has positively affected the image of our City. The donations have allowed for many beneficial acquisitions including (but not limited to):

• The Rotary Vista Room at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts
• Many of the renovations of the Hamilton High Auditorium
• The YMCA Teen Rooms
• The Rotary Show Wagon
• Furnishing dictionaries for every 3rd grade student in Hamilton

The Rotary Club also sponsors Youth contests for encouraging students to write about Drug Prevention, Diversity Appreciation and the Four Way Test.
